In 2006, he switched to spading with an Imants 37 series behind a 130 hp tractor. That proved to be a bull's eye.
“I could work the soil and sow the grain in a single pass, thanks to an Amazone attachment. The seed then goes straight into moist, black soil.”
Today, Hoving works with an Imants 44WX300, equipped with integrated agitator blades. He uses this spading machine not only for grain, but also for sugar beet fields. Only for potatoes does he still opt for fixed tine cultivation. “Spading is ideal if you want to change the structure of the soil. And thanks to the higher speed and capacity of the 44WX, I can cover a lot of ground.”
For Hoving, it's all about cooperation and keeping on working.
“We can work with several people at the same time. First spading, and then the planter right behind it. If there's a problem, we help each other out. Finished in one day – ideal!”
By using modern techniques, Hoving continues to run his business with an eye to the future: fewer passes, more control, and more time for other tasks.
