When Imants organized a demonstration for arable farmers in the Reusel region in 2003, Jos van Sambeek was one of the first to attend. “At that time, we were still plowing as standard,” he recalls.
But during that demo, I immediately saw the advantages: a nice, even seedbed and good mixing of fertilizers in the topsoil.
That convinced him to purchase an Imants 47SP300DRH in 2004. From that moment on, spading became the standard on the farm – especially for sugar beets. In 2010, he purchased the same machine again, and since 2015, Van Sambeek has been working with a 48WX300H.
The advantages? They are obvious to him:
✔ Spading and sowing in a single pass, ideal on light sandy soils that compact quickly.
✔ Less turning and finishing, especially on smaller plots.
✔ Better incorporation of organic matter and healthier soil life.
Van Sambeek digs over 600 hectares every year. This includes beets, onions, beans, peas, grains, and potatoes. A large part of the grain area is dug and sown in a single pass.
When Imants began researching spading and cultivating in a single pass in 2013, Van Sambeek was once again quick to adopt the technology.
You see results quickly, especially on leased land. It helps root development and improves water management. That makes us flexible and future-oriented.
