Imants is specialist on soil fumigation and biofumigation.

The base for this unique machine is the rotary spading machine, which is equipped with goose-feet to apply the fumigant followed by a power driven rotating harrow and smooth roller.

The fumigant is applied at half the working depth tipically to the depth of 10- 12.5 cm (4-6”) and is mixed through the soil profile by the rotating spading blades. Then the soil surface is levelled and consolidated by the rotating harrow and "sealed" by a power driven smooth roller or a tire packer.

The rotating spading machine proved to be the only equipment to successfully incorporate the non-fumigant nematicides/insecticides (Mocap, Temik, Vydate) evenly through the total depth of the tillage layer.

Incorporating these compounds with springtine cultivators or even with rotary cultivators resulted only in mixing them in the top 5 to 6 cm, which is in most cases insufficient to control nematodes and soil-borne insects.

The application rates may vary from 100 - 1200 litres per ha.

Extensive research has been carried out with metham-sodium, applied with the share injector and the rotary spading injector. The results show that the distribution of MITC in the top soil was much higher in the upper 20 cm whereas in the subsoil at 90 cm and lower it was extremely low, complying with drinking water requirements.

By using a spray boom in front of the harrow the weed pressure can be reduced. That way the spader is ideal when used to control nutsedge or other weeds. It is possible to use another herbicide as well. All in one pass.

There are machines available for large areas and smaller areas and even for glasshouses.

The injection device can be separated from the rotary spader. This way it can be used as a two way operation instead of a one way operation although we advise to do it in a one way operation to be more effective and prevent off-gassing.

possibilites are endless because of:

Can be used in various soil types
Smaller and larger machines possible
Various working widths
Driven power harrow
Driven smooth roller
Working depth 15-35 cm (6-12”)
Can be used with duck feet in front of spader or with a separate front unit.
