Growing success in the field: Kastens Landtechnik on working with Imants

A successful dealer partnership rarely happens overnight. It develops step by step. Through conversations, shared field experience, and mutual trust. That’s exactly how the partnership between Kastens Landtechnik and Imants began.

A family business with tradition

Kastens Landtechnik has been a trusted name in its region (Lower Saxony, Germany) since 1954. Today, a team of 22 employees supports local farmers across a wide range of operations.

Their market includes arable farming, dairy, pig farming, vegetable production, and specialty crops. In a competitive market, standing out with innovative solutions and expert advice is essential.

The first contact, a different approach

The partnership started with a simple phone call in 2019 after a farmer requested a demo.

“That first call already stood out. I immediately thought: this is a completely different machine,” says the Kastens sales representative. Shortly after, the first demonstration took place in the field.

Demonstrations: the key to adoption

With new technology, results in the field are what matter most. Demonstrations are therefore essential. Initially, multiple farmers were invited at once. “It worked well, but there were too many opinions,” Kastens recalls.

Today, demonstrations are more focused and done per farm. This allows farmers to evaluate the machine properly. Because one thing is clear: “An Imants machine is not something you sell quickly. It requires patience.” Farmers often monitor results over time before making a decision.

Close dealer–manufacturer cooperation

A strong partnership requires direct communication. “I sometimes speak with Erik (representative at Imants for the region) more often than with my wife,” the sales rep jokes.

This close contact supports technical questions, practical insights, and customer-specific solutions. Kastens describes the collaboration as: “Reliable, clear, and straightforward.”

Steady growth

Since 2019, the partnership has grown significantly. What started with a few machines has expanded to nearly 20 in the region.

The lesson: with patience, strong advice, and practical demonstrations, innovative soil cultivation technology can be successfully introduced.

Advice for future dealers

“You need patience and real knowledge of soil cultivation. It’s not just about selling a machine.”

Understanding soil, crops, and farmer challenges is key. Or as Kastens puts it: “Grow slowly, but grow well.”
